Oh, Tree

...On seeing a tree in the morning’s golden light…

Oh, tree

See how thy steadfast branches

Strut strong into the sky

Nourished by budding green

Bathed in golden light

Imbued with creation's power

Your roots pierce down

Dig deep into the earth

You are founded strong in this world

You build on raw existence

Making life from elementals

Alchemist thou truly art!

Oh, how I admire you!

What wisdom you teach

Calmness and serenity

No care hast thou in life

Content just to be

Building stronger, and stronger, e'er stronger!

Dear Rick,

I greatly enjoyed your elemental ode for the coral tree. The picturesque beauty of this elder statesmen of earth is gracefully mirrored in your lines. Your ardent tone in this piece reminded me very much for Wordsworth. I also greatly enjoyed how you celebrated the natural processes of growth in lines such as "You build on raw existence/Making life from elementals/Alchemist thou truly art." Those lines show true reverence for the majestic process of growth.

I am very much with you in your admiration of this coral tree, as well as trees everywhere.

A wonderful homage to the miracle that is a tree. It's an engine that harnesses the sun's power, feeds on common earth elements, cleans our air, cools the earth's surface, shelters understory plants and sister trees, feels and shields the winds near the surface, drops it's little filter factories onto the soil to replenish it for the next set of season's. As near to being a perpetual motion machine as we can see. Thanks for sharing, Rick. 8-)

This is really beautiful Rick! I love trees, I can even be seen talking to them at times lol. This is really profound tribute to this gift from God.

Beautifully explicit. Although I have to admit that the ones around my house seem to be trying to take my abode down. Especially during windstorms and heavy winters. So maybe they have a mean side as well as just being content. ;)

I think we often forget just how wondrous a tree really is.
