Oh, Rose!

     …Wonderful scent and color--a marvel!

Oh, precious Rose--such sweet perfume!

Your splendid presence--sensual oblivion!

So pure--clearer than a rain-washed sky!

Serene--you meld my senses.

Merciful--your healing balm of scent and color!

Oh, Rose, you hold bold wonder for both nose and eye!

Sometimes, the happiest we can be is when we appreciate the simplest things in life. A little lilting breeze, the sight of the sun setting, or just a single rose. Your poem brings out that delight on seeing things with an eye of interest, curiosity and kindness. Although I think this poem is hiding a deeper meaning, and the Rose might allude to the woman you love as well. Even if it doesn't, it stands tall as a poem on its own. Thank you for sharing :)

Anytime
Beautiful use of given words, especially, for me: 'Serene -- you meld my senses.' And it's so true, a (scented) rose really does hold wonder for both nose and eye.

Love looking at a rose's silk.satin petals, there's always the minutest difference, a variation almost invisitble to the eye. A wonderful post, thank you so much for sharing, Rick.

I like everything except the last three words. I love roses ever since I was a child. You got me thinking and remembering but then you got too obvious for me. Leave more for me to imagine than a nose and eye.
Liked it! Will read more.

Wow. This is so different! It's nice to read a piece about Nature's beauty and no better way to do it than by appreciating the beauty and fragrance of the rose - it's a flower that epitomizes nature. Both beautiful and prickly (unpredictable)! I loved this refreshing read :)

Nothing like the gentle fragrance of a rose, indeed!
This made me smile, a delight to embrace the fragrance through these words!

Studied the red rose, deduced the perfect essence
