Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

A Poem by Shygirl

The young girl looked at the mirror,
tears free falling to the floor,
"Mirror, mirror on the wall,
am I the ugliest of them all?"
She threw the mirror to the floor,
her distorted figure spread in silver shards.
The teenage girl looked at the mirror,
black-stained tears dripping in the sink,
"Mirror, mirror on the wall,
am I the fattest of them all?"
She screamed and ram out the door,
the sound echoing throughout the house.
The woman looked at the mirror,
beaming with confidence and assurance.
"Mirror, mirror on the wall,
am I the greatest of them all?"
The woman smiled and walked away.
It was just a mirror after all.

The mirror is full of crap... ;) It really is the world best free social advertising and media tool. It wraps us up into our own fears and self doubts faster than anything in Hollywood or the gizmo and gadget market.

I like how at the end of this poem we are taught to walk away from that reflection, for we've learned that it is just that... one aspect of something that is far more diverse and worth living for.
