Shakespeare's Land of Oz

Shakespeare's Land of Oz

A Poem by Shygirl

Two star crossed lovers ran with the summer sun,
arm and arm, hand and hand down the yellow-brick road.
They killed the Wicked Witch from the East and all was good,
But the forgot about the West and the Witch crowed.
Their Oz was destroyed, and the Emerald City turned to rubble,
their faith was lost and the flying monkeys roamed the land.
The scarecrow was left ignorant, the tin man heartless, the cowardly lion gutless,
Dorothy couldn't tap her shoes out of this, she couldn't withstand
the Witch's fury.
Dorothy and Romeo just weren't meant to be
He went and found his Juliet, while she reminisced.
She thought of the days they ran with the summer sun,
and ruled the land of Oz together, but now they don't exist.

Interesting story and I love how you pushed the two stories together and related them to each other. It's tough to realize and know that two people just aren't meant to be together, though they might have so much in common. I also really enjoyed the title, seeing as I love The imaginary land of Oz.
