AnxietyA Poem by ShygirlEverything turned sideways as the ship burned to ashes. The was too much, my face turned bright red, matching that of the fires. I couldn't breathe. The world looked distorted as if I was looking through a kaleidoscope with billions of colors and shapes flying by. The vessel lurched and began to sink. I started to panic. My heart raced faster and faster. The sky was spinning and the ground was shaking. I almost passed out. Then I took a deep breath. I n h a l e, e x h a l e. The fires extinguished, the ground steadied, the sky stopped spinning. I closed my eyes, took another long breath, then opened my eyes. I was back in the dining room with a man standing on one knee, waiting for an answer.
