Closure

A Poem by Shygirl

And even though I am free, my slavery abolished,
I still feel the weight of the ball and chain dragging me down
in every step I take. It pulls me down to the abyss of hopelessness,
so far until the light is only seen in the my dreams. The lingering memories
of my sufferings still burn deeply in my mind. The darkness, the fire, the
hate and despair;

And yet I still wake up each morning to the songs of the sparrows.
Within me there is great darkness, buried deep in the graveyard, never to
be seen again. though it nags to rise again, the light is too great.
It says buried for now. However, there will be a day the memories will
resurface, but never will darkness dawn on me.

Now the weight of the grave pulls on me each day, but the glory of the light takes
hold and shines on.
