LifeA Poem by ShygirlI was in a bad situation. The tide was quickly turning from my favor. I looked into my opponent's beady black eyes and my strength left me. They sought blood, my blood. The eyes of my enemy pierced into my skull, how dark and soulless they were. My courage was replaced with the stone-heavy fear that possessed my thoughts. The icy fear froze my mind and drained my will. The monster's teeth gleamed a sickly yellow as they neared my throat. My heart beat louder, like thunder in a rainstorm. Behind the creature, a hooded figure stood holding in his skeletal fingers, a soul-reaping scythe. This must be it. I thought, but something inside me disagreed. It swept through my sore muscles and fatigued body. A new strength filled my heart. No. I had the will to go on. I looked the monster in the eyes, no longer afraid. The big black beast bellowed and struck, but I fought back. The reaper in the shadows grimaced and faded. The tide turned towards neither the monster's nor mine, An even match once more.
