And ThenA Poem by Roy Wang"And then you gave up on me and turned into everything you said you will never be." -AnonymousThe action; me: Soldier on. Run little boy for you have a message to carry. Your knees will shift and your eyes will be weary. You will not be traveling through villages, You are no Paul Revere. You will run through generations, documenting the years. The message you send, is not printed nor written. Instead you will take with you knowledge of fiction. It seems absurd but by the time that you’re gone, You’ll execute your duties and Soldier on. The message; my heart: Be patient and wait. You have to look and listen. The signs are all around you, Don’t ever jump to conclusions, Or loneliness surrounds you. Experience can’t lie and I’m still a little confused. If you meant what you said, then how did I end up being used? You told me that wednesday that we would go on a date. I wonder what would’ve happened if I could Be patient and wait. The conclusion; now: Questions remain. Would things be different? Would the little boy understand? The message he carries is one of a warning, To be different; not idly take commands. Don’t be too nice, the heart will break. Don’t be too mean, the mind will hate. But that’s what it’s come to. Broken, anger, hatred. Depression. … I’m tired of speaking in rhymes; hinting. You broke all of your promises. You broke our friendship. You broke my heart. I hope your happy.
