Star-gazing

Star-gazing

A Poem by Anorien Isilme

Her soul made like the night.

A sphere of vast silence

Enveloped in suffocating darkness,

Trapped with no way out.

She was lost,

Each direction resulted in nothing.

Absent were the things she longed for,

The moonlight gifting her sorrow only emptiness.

But holes in the sieve let starlight shine through.

Silver sprinkled the ominous shadows,

Hope glittered across the sky.

A glimpse into the possibilities beyond.

What was once looming dark,

Became peaceful as it had long ago.

What was once an expanse of nothing,

Became her home, her playground, her freedom.

What was once longing,

Became determination flooding her veins.

Suddenly,

The thoughts were lost. Forgotten.

Escaping like so many rabbits

Along their hidden trails.

Drowning under her dark cloud

She felt the stars beckon.

A pure twinkle flashed and

She remembered.

Author's Note

Anorien Isilme
This poem was essentially an epiphany, written in mere minutes. I wanted to keep this as RAW as possible, since it's my first, hoping for some pointers in anything. At the very least, my punctuation for poetry has always been questionable.
