A Poem by Rowe Boat

{ a lesson on boys in grade school }

1. Crushes don’t involve the violent use of rocks or heavy objects such as chairs

2. Don’t play house with that boy. He only wants to show you his batman boxer briefs.

3. Sometimes a game of ‘boys chase girls’ can result in a broken tooth. Don’t fret. It was going to fall out anyway.

4. Nobody will remember the time you tripped and they laughed.

5. Keep playing with flowers. They are good. You are good. He can wait.

6. Sometimes you’ll run into him at the grocery store, and it’s okay to hide behind your mother’s legs.

This was fun! Looking back on elementary school... I don't think I ever saw another boy go as far as #1, I new quite a few that would take number 2 much further if the girls weren't careful. I think number 3 was the other way around usually. And it was only because some guy pulled out a hair ribbon or took something to instigate the chase. I rarely saw boys doing the chasing. 4. I agree... if fades like the wind. 5 was certainly prolific, I think I saw quite a few boys trying the smell the flowers too, but they would get teased. 6 makes me laugh because I was always the one that went and hid, when I passed a girl from school! lol

Thanks for the wonderful list!

This is funny and intuitive as well. I like the line about waiting too since most aren't worth jumping in with both feet for...lol
