What am I?

What am I?

A Poem by Maleficent
"

A playful poem where you should by reading guess what it talks about.

"
What am I?
On a bustling street belong I not
Yet a crack in the pavement
For mine might hold a spot

The forest is what I prefer
The bugs and soil
Me won't deterr
I lay at rest, but always at work
On miry ground to still and breathe
In any weather, I remain and lurk

I could be lonely, but instead I'm not
Stones and sticks; they're all I've got
Maybe a tree or few, the mushrooms too
The forest is my best friend,
Even the birds that coo

I'm a tender shield for rocks and bark;
A vibrant tapestry for both light and dark
Here the wind carries whispers of my lungs
To decorate the woods, so pretty and stark
What am I? I'm everywhere all at once
Breathing pops of color
For this my comfortable loft
And most of all, I am green and I am soft
What am I?

To decorate the woods, so pretty and stark'
