A Poem by Ross Davison

hard to (admit) swallow and suffer
as i turn over
rotisserie burning
stake thru throat
skin (soul) crisping like ash
flail gouging

that i was the                  (only)
swimming nude near crowds

when every song sun raincloud
calendar date (loss) link

elastic banded letters,
wet now in spattered saline.
reread words retranslated
(severe)slight(ly)
mis     in

remark the signs
                                  (missed) by
plain sight

that i was   (am)
