awakened

awakened

A Poem by Ross Davison

Awakened by the sound of quietly placed footsteps.

Rustic room aroma

                                             and summer sweat humidity

chirp cricket the tall grass long cicadas buzz,      sun shades low and warm

  cool hardwood handmade quilted
            photos on the bureau

              A strangers home no more.

Taken in

      accepted.

long family walk around the just past sunset block

red wine and buttered corn conversation

I fell in love last night

With people                 I once never knew.

                         Taken in,

              awakened,

by the sound of quietly placed

                        footsteps.
