groggy heat

groggy heat

A Poem by Ross Davison

in
this
shade
of her limbs spread
a c r o s s m y   c h e s t
sun shine spots wiggling in slow dance,
lemonade sweetened cool, the condensation drip
cubes, lingering the surface, roll their crackle lilly pad blend
in with each savor lips quench,
moistening palate flesh once breeze need blown,
drooping me into groggy bottom slumber.
the giggling
from the
swing
set
girls
and the
kickball
boys,
splashes my
ears
and mind
as your sister
calls
across the
water waves,
green park
grass to
the blanket bark against my back
hat over lids, she fidgets her nose tickle asleep deep unconscious
shorts baring legs so folded supple, the leaves and braches, camouflage our roots
together.
