CloudsA Poem by Roshan NairMore often than not, in life, we are left more touched and moved for life by people and things that are ephemeral, present for a few precious moments or days ,even years, any of it seeming too shortCan you be here a minute longer? There’s only one more number to play. The country isn’t running anywhere.
If we wish, We can find our own way.
But we are all but leavers here. These clouds they play to the chimes, To the way the old ships steer.
My love has rested upon this clover, We caught up before spring arrived that day. The season seemed like it’s for the lasting.
If we will, We can carve out our own bay.
But we are dawn’s deceivers here. The speck of mist has called my love to the sky, To become one with the rain that washes us clear.
What train can we take to go farther? Memories got no feet nor feathers nor say, They seep down and be taken where you go.
If we dream, We can paint this picture as we may,
But we are false receivers here, To call the coming into plains of shadows, Of clouds that pass with no man to fear.
I’ll not leave this rope waiting stronger, Will you hold on to my sounds made of clay? They are for you to keep from now.
If we dare, We can climb up, in known lands to lay.
But we are only destiny’s chasers here, Your touch becomes the breeze, your smiles the passing rays, With no face familiar, the ephemeral becomes most real.
