The Crossing

The Crossing

A Poem by Roshan Nair
"

This one is a piece I had written for someone close to me who was trapped in a sorry and desolate life for long, this is what I wrote when there was finally hope visible at the end of tunnel for her.

"

How did you get so far on this day?

I see you’ve turned slightly grey, in your eyes.

Step towards me, fill yourself afresh,

I know you’ve seen this day before the morning cries.

It’s not time to back down today,

There won’t be another turn for miles ahead.

Wash your feet in this flowing stream,

There won’t be a need for signs of all that bled.

The piper’s no longer the master of you

Decide which end you want stronger.

The debts are no longer following you.

You’re clean from every corner.

The directions are yours for the taking,

For any wind you follow will give you quarter.

Dream of a home on the road you’re on,

You don’t need to confide and reside, just decide.

Can you hear the distance saying you’re near,

You are at home in the inside of the world outside.

Forget the poison that plagued your past,

Let me pour this water on your eyes tonight.

Clear the dirt that sketches shadows which aren’t,

Let me wake you to the journey without yesterdays fight.

There are no shackles on your feet,

There is no sound from the afar calling.

Fresh as you come, look who’s here to meet,

Does it matter if we’re headed for another falling?

Feel the breeze brush against your face,

No one sent it here to meet you.

It’s telling you’re onto the path you should trace,

No one could’ve marked it but you,

You’re clean from every corner.

The directions are yours for the taking,

For any wind you follow will give you quarter.

***

See the lights go up on the city,

We can stop if you want for a while,

The time we have won is ours now really,

Let’s just be here a while to watch the night smile.

I like to read such emotional pieces than reading about heart break ones, I mean this very well expressed and at the same time sounds like a wisdom of death, the virtue of life - getting away from someone is not easy but can't stop them. You can only preserve what is left, forever.

Great lines...heart warming indeed...n some exceptionally appealing lines to me - "Dream of a home on the road you’re on,
You don’t need to confide and reside, just decide.
Can you hear the distance saying you’re near,
You are at home in the inside of the world outside"

Just loved them!

A true friend indeed to have written such beauty and brought such hope to someone close who has your obvious undying affection, your words are tender and caring and your intention is to bring light back into her life, so very well written Roshan, bravo :)

Thanks a lot Julie! Glad you found it interesting :)
A beautiful write of friendship, hope and love. Sometimes it is hard to see around one and it takes a good friend to assure one that all they have achieved is remarkable, and with the wings of imagination dreams do come true.

Wishing your friend bliss!
