School Days

School Days

A Poem by Rose Black

We learn from when we started school,
that reading's fun and math is cool.
we run and dance and jump and play,
skipping through pre-school's yard all day.
Graduating to  a higher level,
we meet new friends with whom we revel.

The years fly quick of our primary school life,
Soon we're graduated into high school's days of strife,
with authoritarian's structures and ignorant fools,
who disrupt all the classes and break all the rules.
Defiant students who are dragged to mass,
the wannabe and timid all in one class.

It's now time to graduate, the years went quickly by,
we gather for the ceremony we laugh and we cry.
When it's all ended we go our own ways,
we're now prepared for the darkest nights and for the brightest days.
