To Hear as the Outcast HearsA Poem by Rose of GondorYou sit at the organ Fingers flying over the keys I close my eyes And let the music fill my soul I hear your voice Ringing melodiously with the organ And I feel the pain I feel the grief, the heart-ache You have finally opened up to me Finally let me in And I cry For your pain For your hurt You gently frame my face with your hand and whisper ' I am sorry if it pains you.' And I whisper back With all the sincerity in the world 'I heard as the outcast hears.' Your blue eyes locked with mine And you smile, sad, slow, and thoughtful A single tear Slid down your cheek And I wipe it away Is this what if feels like to hear as the outcast hears? I finally see your fears Your torment and your tears I see your agony See your loneliness See the beauty in the depths of your soul See how much alike we really are I heard as the outcast hears Heard the beauty of music Heard the song of darkness Heard the song of solitude And I heard you The song itself was beauty So why has all this beauty been shunned from the world? The song is yours So much can be heard through your music of the night But all the while I was the only one willing To hear as the outcast hears... © 2012 Rose of GondorAuthor's Note
