Look to the Morning

Look to the Morning

A Poem by Rose of Gondor

When all hope is lost

When thy need is most

Look to the morning

Look to the dawn

The banner of the rising sun

The flame against the sky

Like a single candle in the night

Doth burn so blinding bright

Away, creatures of the night

Away, I say

Tarry not in this world of light

Tarry not, away!

A horn sounds upon the battlements

Echoing through the halls

Where brave men fought and died nobly

Behind these sturdy walls

Fight for victory

What strength is mine

I give to thee

To keep thy hope alive

And still they fight

For lord and land

And so long as they do

The walls will stand

So hope on, my friend

Hope on for victory

Hope on for a happy outcome

Hope on for peace

When all hope is lost

When thy need is most

Look to the morning

Look to dawn

May you find strength in the morn

May you find peace in the breeze

I pray for thy return

And hope, with the sun

Phantom Rose this is absolutely outstanding, this is got to be some your best work that I've ever seen. I watched and reviewed your work over the last year; and watched you improve during that time. It makes me proud to be able to say this; Great Job.

Very nice use of words. Somewhat professional like. It brings imagery to one's mind while reading. Keeps one reading, wanting more to read in some ways. Well done.

This sounds so professional and beautiful! It sort of brought tears to my eyes. You can't find poetry like this anymore. Your way of writing, it's very touching. This would also make a really nice song, you know? Something slow with piano or violin I guess. Excellent poetry!

I like the 'banner of the rising sun' which has a fair ring to it. Also many an insomniac wld salute that banner!

Look to my coming on the first light of the fifth day. At dawn look to the east.

@rachi52 If you click on the picture, you'll notice that I used the picture of Gandalf, Eomer, and his eored charging down the hill to go "to the king". And if you noticed, I kinda did a little "lord and land" thing! :D I've always liked that speech, even though it was super short.

Your language choices are just beautiful! It has this great professional tone to it, yet carries the reader away in a modern sense. Very nicely written!

wonderful....excellent...write Phantom........Truly.
Little Beowolf, Keats, and Shakespeare....thrown into one
I loved the style and the unobtrusive rhyme scheme throughout; it never got in the way of the flow or message of the poem.
"May you find strength in the morn
May you find peace in the breeze
I pray for thy return
And hope, with the sun"
Doesn't get much better than that...Phantom
one question...or observation
Did you intentionally use the word "you" in the last stanza or did you slip...
either way it works, just curious..
