No Thanks!

A Poem by Rose of Gondor

My heart races
My face flushes
As I watch you
Scan my papers

Your eyes roam over the words
A disapproving quirk at your lips
I cringe and run back to my room
Back to unnerving silence

I try to relax
Listen to music
But you call again and again
Breaking my mask of calm

Maybe I worry too much
Maybe I'm just hallucinating
Maybe nothing's happening at all
Maybe you don't hate my words

But how can I tell?

You tell me I'm good
You tell me I'm bad
Either way

How can I tell?

So I avoid each time
There's a paper to be read
Please, no conferencing!
Good bye, no thanks!

My heart races
My face flushes
As I watch you
Scan my papers

Author's Note

Rose of Gondor
This is what happens everytime an adult that is in my line of vision tries to read and correct my writing. I mean, I can stand it if I didn't know they were reading it, or if they're reading it out of my line of vision, but I start hyperventilating and getting anxious when I KNOW an adult's reading my writing...
