Fever

Fever

A Poem by Rose of Gondor

Like the flames of a spreading fire

Fever

In the dark of the night

Heat awakens me

Like I am swallowed by flames

My vision is blurred

My limbs stiff and weak

The fire burning steadily

My head hurts

As I stumble

To the couch

To set myself down

By the window

Where the cold air

Might do me some good

My cheeks are burning

I am shivering

Despite the heat

The world is spinning around me

I can't hold myself up

My strength has left me

Alone to these flames

That engulf me

Swallowing me whole

Like the fires of Hell

Fever
