Who Will Love Me As I Am?A Poem by Rose of GondorWho will love me as I am? Just plain little me Nothing special The girl behind the facade The masquerade Behind the fake smiled plastered on her face The girl, not the marionette
Who will love me as I am? I am not what I appear to be There's so much more than meets the eye Looking at me You'd think I was shallow Callow But if you really tried You can see the layers inside You'd be able to see The girl behind the make up The glamorous dresses Behind the flirt she pretends to be
Who will love me as I am? I am not a marionette Not a flower Not a peacock Not a doll But you can't seem to understand that To you I'm simply your toy Your plaything And when you're done You'd toss me in the dump I try to believe That what I'm doing is What's best for me But really It's what's best for you And I don't want to live like this anymore I can't continue losing myself Bit by bit As I gradually become The doll you think I am As I gradually stop Making my own decisions As I gradually start Succumbing to your every wish I'd hoped it wouldn't come to this But you leave me no choice You leave me no way out of this mess Without heartache The only thing you have left me Is that one lingering question
