Why did I ever grow up?

Why did I ever grow up?

A Poem by Rose of Gondor
"

I just got re-obsessed with Peter Pan, and then my mom and aunt told me everyone has to grow up, and I'm like, "NO!!! I don't want to grow up!" So I wrote this.

"

Standing alone

In my new apartment

I realized how cold it was

How unwelcoming and stiff

So I set my suitcase down

And settled into the hard bed

Staring up at the ceiling

Tears in my eyes

Why did I ever grow up?

Why did I ever grow up

From the time when boys were icky

From the time when a teddy bear meant all the comfort in the world

In a dark room

Why did I ever grow up

From the time when an ice cream cone

Could make me smile as bright as the august sun

From the time hide and seek was the best game ever

Why did I ever grow up?

As I stared at the ceiling

I pondered

At my age

At my mind

At growing up

I wipe away the tears

That formed

Got off bed

And began unpacking

I've grown up

There's no turning back

Why did I ever grow up?
