Something Has Changed

Something Has Changed

A Poem by Rose of Gondor

Something has changed within me

Something will never be the same again

Now being here

Caught in this masquerade

The fake smiles

Is fading away

I can't stand it a second longer

The dresses you liked to see me wear

The heavy jewelry you yourself draped

Upon my neck

Proved that you didn't know

The girl behind the mask

Something has changed within me

Something will never be the same again

I'm through with wearing that invisible mask

Through with playing by your rules

You don't understand me

So why am I still here

Dressed up like a peacock

Sitting beside you

But somehow I couldn't leave

I couldn't bring myself to go

To get up

Out of this chair

Across the room

Out the door

I couldn't think of leaving you

I couldn't do it

Something has changed within me

Something will never be the same again

Though the glamor still hadn't faded

The pride was gone

The joy was gone

Leaving only a distinct lonliness

A distinct feeling of being hollow

Something will never be the same again

Something has changed
