Only Human

Black and white,

Day and night,

Truth and lie,

Hero and villain

 

The idea of right and wrong

The line drawn between the both

Never to be blurred

Never to be tested

 

It was so clear

When I was young

Who was the hero

And who the villain

 

I always cheered for the charming princes

On their majestic, white stallions

And the brave super heroes

That flies around in tights and capes

 

I always despised the ugly witches

In their deep, dark caves,

And the evil genius masterminds

That plot to dominate the world

 

I never questioned he boundaries

Of good and bad

Of right and wrong

But I’m questioning it now

 

Is there always a clear border

Between black and white?

What about the area in-between?

What about those that dwell in gray?

 

Would they be judged harshly

For things they’ve done

That they regret

Desperately?

 

Would they be judged harshly

For grasping on to life

And doing what it takes

To survive?

 

Would they be judged harshly

For what they feel

For being afraid

For losing hope?

 

Would they be judged harshly

For making mistakes

And for regretting them

For being human?

 

After all, it’s all about what happened

And who tells the tale

There are always two sides to every story

But the victor gets to tell the tale

 

So it comes down to this

Nothing is certain

There is no absolute white

No absolute black

 

No absolute right

No absolute wrong

After all, we’re only

Human

Yep, another one of my "pondering" poems. Again, this is just to remind you that I haven't disappeared off the face of the planet. I'm just busy as flip. :D Well, hope you likey?

This directly addresses the human error that occurs and causes strife and suffering in human beings. I have deduced from this utopia is unfortunately impossible. There would be one human error, maybe there's a misunderstanding, it leads to a row, and the Butterfly Effect would ripple onward and destroy the delicately balanced lie. People are just too freaking opinionated and short-tempered to create utopia, we're always getting in each other's way.
This has little to do with your actual poem, but I thought that I should just put that out there.

lol science of deduction :D Utopia is impossible. Human nature will always destroy it. it's fine, I like a little philosophy in the reviews now and again. Means I can make my readers thinks, eh?

Yeah, I have a friend who hates villains (well, what she thinks to be villains...which often are just people making mistakes...) while I'm very sympathetic (overly, sometimes...) toward them....in the end we just decide not to talk about it. :D

Innocents makes the lines seem so absolute but as you get older it becomes judging a book by its cover instead of getting to know the what is down deep. You find now that priests and cops commit sins and break laws and a man in rags selflessly lends a helping hand.

haha, yes everyone LOVES Elphie. :D I have tend to be very sympathetic toward villains...(seriously, I went to theaters with my friend once and we were watching this movie, and she leaned over, looked down at her watch and was like "if i knew you well enough, you're starting to sympathize with the villain at about right....now!" and I was like 'dude you're psychic or something...')
