Touch

Touch

A Poem by Rose Elizabeth
"

sad, short

"

How can I keep him from falling?
He leans to the left,
He leans to the right,
But still I can’t touch him.
I watch him stagger through the door,
I watch him stagger down the hall,
I watch him stagger up the stairs,
But still I can’t touch him.
How can I tell him he’s falling?
How can I tell him he’s drunk?
How can I tell him he’s far gone?
But still I can’t touch him.
I hear him cry on the phone,
I hear him cry on the bed,
I hear him cry on the floor,
But still I can’t touch him.
I taste his tears,
I taste his sorrow,
I taste his blood,
But still I can’t touch him.
I can feel him shake,
I can feel him ache,
I can feel him break apart,
But still I can’t touch him.
But still I can’t touch him.
And he falls apart as I watch him.
But still I can’t touch him.
But still I can’t touch him.

I suppose it's about someone beautiful, special to you, someone you wish you could help, but it's sincerely impossible. or perhaps it wouldn't be right. some people are meant to be left well enough alone.
I like it. the repetition adds to the sincerity, or the feeling, in my opinion.
