Rich GirlA Chapter by Rose Elizabeth
I got home at around eleven and fed the kitten. I watched him finish and then started to play with him when he finished. I was messing with him on the floor when Ben and Viki came in. In one hand I saw she had a small gold bag marked Kay, the little gold digger got him to get her jewelry obviously. I laughed a little and then hoisted myself off the floor.
“Hey Izzy, what have you been doing all morning?” asked Ben with a smile.
“Oh I went and got Snickers some supplies,” I said playfully.
“Snickers, that’s an interesting name,” he said curiously.
“Well he’s got these black and brown and white bits all over him like a snickers and he likes snickers so I thought why not,” I was holding him up to my face.
“Who gave you that cat?” asked Viki cynically from the kitchen.
“Sadie gave her to me,” I said the first name that came to mind.
“Really, then what did Ben get you,” she was playing a tricky game this one but it was amateur at best.
“We decided we didn’t need to get each other anything this year,” I commented.
“Oh,” she said a little disappointed. I gave Ben a smile as he grabbed the kitten from me. I grabbed my kitten back and ran upstairs to let the two love birds be alone for awhile. We played in my room for another hour and then at two o’clock I had plans with Alice to go pick up our dresses. I ran downstairs and found Viki in Ben’s arms as they were making something in the kitchen that smelled like pork chops. So maybe I didn’t like that woman at all she could cook and when she went I’m not ashamed to say that I would miss her food. I sat the kitty on the couch and put on my coat and grabbed my purse.
“I’m goin’ out,” I called to Ben, “Snickers is on the couch.”
“Hey where are you going!?” he shouted form the edge of the kitchen.
“To pick up my dress,” why did he need to know? Bringing it up would only put his beloved in a bad mood. I walked out the door and ran down the stairs.
I wasn’t going to deal with the traffic this time so I just walked off toward the nearby café where we had decided to meet. We met and had some late lunch and then we were off to the dress maker’s in Alice’s limo. We got there at around four in the afternoon. Again I let Alice and the designer do their business in the dressing room. They came out with two gorgeous gowns and two elegant masks. No, I’m not going to describe it to you now, you’ll have to wait the party to find out exactly what it looks like. We took all night making little adjustments and twirling around for the artist. It was so fun! We watched… I watched 27 dresses while Alice and the designer did unspeakable things in the dressing room. It was a good movie but at some points I couldn’t hear because of the noise in the other room. She finally came out at around eight and then we all watched the movie. After that we tried on some other dresses for no reason, I suppose the fact that Alice and Sidney, the designer, were drunk had something to do with it. I wasn’t drunk but I did enjoy wearing those huge dresses. We left at around midnight back to apartment at the Trump Tower; yes her dad owns an apartment there. I dragged her into her room and pushed her onto the bed. I went asleep beside her on the ginormous California king bed. Sunday we didn’t do much but sleep, we looked over the plans and called companies and service to reconfirm for that New Years Eve and then we slept more. I got home at around one in the afternoon where kitty was happy to see me. Ben and Viki were playing Uno on the dining room table so I just sat on one side with kitty. Every now and then he’d jump on and try to lay on the cards. Ben and I would laugh but Viki would give me dirty looks.
“Would you get that thing away from here,” she told me sternly. I gave Ben an annoyed look and took Snickers over to the window. He wasn’t really interested in what was out there so I let him down and we started playing with the string at the end of a stick. I started listening in on their conversations. It turns out the Viki had dragged Ben all over to some of the most expensive places in town and made him pay for a lot that would be delivered to her door. I couldn’t believe her, she was such a gold digger. It’s not like money is any object to us but still it had its value. I watched them play from a distance for awhile and then I decided maybe I’d go out and enjoy myself.
“Hey guys, I’m gona go see if the girls want to go out shopping,” I said suddenly walking toward the door.
“What you just got back from hanging out with Alice,” called Ben looking back at me getting my coat and purse from the hanger.
“Honey if she wants to go let her, she’s not doing anything around here,” said Viki looking at her cards.
“I agree with Viki,” I smiled at Ben and headed for the door, “hey I think I’ll spend the night at Sadie’s ok.” I turned around and headed upstairs to pack an overnight bag. Ben sighed and went back to his Uno game. How fun. I grabbed my phone and called Sadie.
“Hey Iz, what’s up?” she answered brightly.
“Hey mind if I spend the night?” I asked hopefully.
“Sure, why not, oh wait let me ask my rents.” I waited for a minute then, “Ok they said we’re good.”
“Kay meet me at the bar,” I told her.
“Wait why am I meeting you there?”
“I thought you, me, and Morgan would go shopping,” I said simply as I ran downstairs and picked up my kitten. I gave Ben a goodbye wave and he gave me a little smile.
“Fine, I’ll be there in a while. Did you call Morry or shall I?”
“I’ll call her when we finish our chat,” I wrapped up our conversation.
“Ok. I’ll see you in a minute.”
“Kay, bye!” I was almost down the stairs when I called Morgan.
“Hello?” Morgan asked distractedly.
“Hey sweetie, it’s Izzy. Wana go shopping with me and Sadie?”
“Oh, well I’m a little busy…”
“I don’t care. Come on you never leave that lab of yours, you need some air,” I cut her off.
“Oh fine, its not like I have a job or anything!”
“Oh good see you in the bar in a little while,” I smiled.
“Izzy, I was being sarcastic!”
“I know,” I slapped the phone shut and went on my way. I walked to the bar and there was Sadie waiting by the door without Alex. It was such a rare sight I almost didn’t recognize her.
“Hey, where’s your arm candy?” I asked her playfully.
“Ha ha, what’s this about?” she said in an annoyed voice.
“I got board.” She gave me a hard stare.
“Alright, Ben and Viki were playing Uno and it was making me nauseous,” I gave her a fake peppy smile. Then she gave me a smile.
“I guess we can go in and wait for Morry,” she sighed.
“Yeah,” I sighed back and then we went in and sat down at our favorite booth. It took her a good hour but eventually Morgan made it. We got up to leave and Morgan went to give Johnny a good bye kiss. We were out on the street and hailed a cab. In no time we were on Broadway looking into the doors of my favorite stores. They were some of the most expensive stores I could think of but they were all open to us and our blank CIA credit cards which got us everywhere and everything we wanted.
“So have you guys gotten your dresses,” I twirled around and asked my two best friends.
“Oh I have and its this gorgeous blue gown and I got Alex this matching blue tie, we’re going to match and it’ll be so special,” Sadie started ranting. Morgan looked at the ground.
“Morry! We’ve only got like four days! You need a dress sweetheart,” I interrupted Sadie and started getting on to Morgan.
“My gosh Morgan you haven’t a dress, well we’ve got to get you one come on,” Sadie ran over and grabbed one of her arms and I grabbed the other. Together we dragged her to one of the best places to get a fabulous last minute gown that would sting just as much as a planed gown. The place was like a big warehouse filled with racks of dresses owned by these three Chinese women and their children. The front portion, the biggest part, was filled with ordinary dresses high schoolers might wear. The back, which was a small place that was probably once used as an office, was filled with designer gowns for the stars with fashion emergencies. With one of the daughters helped us to find a gorgous dress that matched Morgan exactly. It was a beautiful red gown that Angelina Joe Lee had once worn to a premier and donated it to the warehouse in return for a favor. We took her to a salon after that to get her hair dyed black and to remove that annoying purple streak that didn’t match the dress. After that we went for dinner and then we found a store that sold media and bought a bunch of movies and CDs we loved. We went to a movie and went out to eat. After that we just walked around and window shopped, there was nothing much to look at besides a bunch of useless junk.
