Let's Get This Party Started

A Chapter by Rose Elizabeth

Of course after I left I ran to the club. Of course I found that Alice was waiting on the entrance to the alley where we hid it.
“Hey Ray, oh that rhymes!” she shouted as she ran and hugged me and gave me a huge smile.
“Hey Kitty, how’s you doin’?” I asked her.
“Oh just great! Come on! Let’s go!” she grabbed my arm and dragged me down the street and I dragged behind her.
“Ok! Ok! I got it! Chill! Come on! What are we doing?” I slung her back around to face me.
“Ok! Well first we need to work on invitations! Those need to be out by next week because people need to get decent clothes! Then next we need to get some decent clothes! Galliano’s going to fashion our dresses himself! Then we need to start thinking of decorations so we’ll be going to the Regis later. Then we need to get cracking on the seating chart. Then we’ve got to start working on the menu, and then music, and then… there’s the… well I think that’s enough for now, what about you?” she smiled.
“Huh… wow, that’s a lot.” I stated. Was there really so much to do? She grabbed my arm and dragged me down the street. We found our way to the place that would make the fancy invitations for our party. We found… she found the perfect stationary to send invitations in after three hours of the lady showing us style after style. I thought I’d go nuts, it got me every year. After that we went to the Regis hotel and went to work on the seating chart. Then after two long hours we went for lunch at some fancy place call’s Degrade, some Italian place. Next we went off to my favorite chore of this party planning time: dress getting! Galliano was an old… friend of Alice’s, he always got us the best dresses ever and she… well… she slept with him in short. Right as we walked in the door he ran up and kissed Alice’s hand delicately.
“Bonjour Madame. And how are we doing today ladies?” he asked kindly. I sat down and let them go in the bathroom and do what they did and then he got to work on our dresses. I would tell you what we decided on but I think I’ll wait till party day just for suspense. We went back to our sweat at the hotel and started to work on what decorations we would have and what we’d set the tables with. We fell asleep with the exclusive silverware magazines spread across our chests. We woke up at about 11 the next day and got to work on the menu plans.
Before I knew it it was time to go home. I went away with the decoration and silverware plans. I got to walking down Broadway and before I knew it there were footsteps behind me. It was Wolfey.
“Hey little lady,” he said cheerfully.
“What do you WANT!?” I shouted.
“Hey come on, we’re friends now,” I turned around to face him. He took outrageous advantage of the situation and pecked me straight on the lips. I pushed him away. We looked into each other’s eyes.
“Sorry. That’s the first time I’ve kissed a girl in over three months.” He said rapidly as if that were an excuse.
“Ha I haven’t kissed a guy in over two years!”
“Two years. That’s a long time. Who did you kiss after we broke up?” he looked so curious.
“Well there was this one guy from school we just got together, I don’t know we broke up that night when he started squeezing my b**b. That’s why I dumped you in the first place.”
“Wait I thought it was the sleeping around?” I rolled my eyes.
“Well that was the biggest reason then it was your blatant disrespect for my body and what I wanted, what I needed.” I didn’t like playing this game.
“Oh. I’m sorry,” he looked genuinely sorry.
“Don’t worry it’s over now,” I started to walk away. He grabbed my arm.
“Wait, just one more chance, one more kiss. I’m so alone.” I looked back at him and then at the people walking on the street. I was getting sick of not getting anyone to love, to kiss. I wanted a boyfriend so bad it was getting impossible to watch others kissing! In the halls! I wanted to throw up.
“One more kiss,” I said softly. I leaned closer to him. I wanted to know, to remember, what that warmth. His arms wrapped around me and his face went on closer to mine. Our lips met and I couldn’t stop myself. His tongue started to explore my mouth, his hand wrapped in my hair. I saw what I was doing and broke away before he could reach anywhere inappropriate. He looked at me with sorrow in his eyes. I started shaking my head and walking away; I turned around so I couldn’t see him and thank goodness he didn’t follow me.
“Ray! I...” I managed to look back at him, ”Look… take my number just in case… you no incase you want to find me.” He ran over to me with a pin and started writing a number on my hand.
“Don’t wait by the phone,” I gave him a weak smile and went on my way. I got to my door and unlocked it and then tried to open it but the chain stopped me. We never locked with that chain, we didn’t ever need it. I knocked hard and yelled Ban’s name through the crack in the door as loud as I could. He ran down the stairs, for a moment he looked up from the bottom with worry but then he shook his head and ran to the door.
“Close the door,” he whispered. I did as he said. He opened the door wide and grabbed me by the arm and dragged me inside. I came in and the first thing I noticed was the bra on the couch. Ben’s shirt was off but his shorts were untouched.
“What on earth is happening here?” I asked giving him a disapproving eye.
“Uh… um… well i… Victoria’s… she’s been trying to get me to… well… she wants us to…” he was out of breath and tense.
“She wants you to make love to her?” I wondered why he didn’t just say it but then again I always hung out in the club which was a very vulgar place.
                “Listen… um… I’m sorry… it’s just…” he whimpered.
“It’s ok, look do you want me to go let her down?”
“What?” he looked so desperately confused.
“Well it looks like you don’t really want to you know what.”
“Ah… well that would be… um… helpful.” He gave a small smile.
“Ok,” I patted his back and went on my way up the stairs. I made my way to Ban’s room, the door lay askew. She was laying inert on the bad.
“Ok… Viki if I’m going to talk to you your going to have to cover up.” I said calmly as I made my way over to her. She rolled over a made a little scream and then brought the covers up to her chin. “Hey yeah like that, thanks.” I sat down at the edge of the bed and looked at the wall. There wasn’t much in Ben’s room, just a bed and a chest of drawers. There was a window on one wall but the black curtains were drawn tight.
“Look, he doesn’t want you that way,” I said calmly.
“What! What do you mean!? What do you know? You’re just a kid!” she exclaimed.
“Look I’ve had a lot of guy problems in my life, probably a lot more than you could ever dream of. So listen he doesn’t want you, please just move on!” I didn’t want to do this but at least it would keep Ben and Viki on their own side of the bed if this worked.
“But why!!!” she whined. She started convulsing on the bed.
“Oh would you just get over it! Look he’s not that kind of guy. That’s it,” I looked her in the eyes, she was crying. I left her there and ran down the stairs.
“Look I told her that’s no guarantee that she won’t attack you anymore,” I went toward the door and grabbed my purse.
“Hey where’re you going,” he looked at me longingly.
“Well I think the two of you might need a little alone time. Or you might want to send the girl home and get your own alone time.” I smiled at him then pranced out the door. He gave me a befuddled look but didn’t stop me. I got into the hall and drug out my cell phone. I waited for him to answer as I ran down the stairs and out of the lobby.
“I knew you’d call,” Wolfey cheered through the phone.
“Oh get over it, it’s late Sunday night I don’t want to wake my girlfriends cause they’ve got to go to school tomorrow, then I just spent over twenty four hours with Kitty.”
“Oh well I’m glad to know I’m just a backup.” He sounded playful and sad at the same time.
“Hey you wana see a movie?” I was desperate to be with some guy.
“Sure! What do you want to see?” he sounded so excited.
“Um why not Inglorious B******s,” it looked like a funny movie, and with Brad Pitt.
“Ok, the old theater?” he asked.
“Yea, I’ll see you there in a while.” So that’s what we did, there was no sneaky b**b squeezing nor any making out. He took me home or as far home as I deemed safe. I went straight to bed and didn’t even see what had become of Ben. That morning I went to school nothing unusual happened, just school. I told the girls what was happening and they weren’t happy at all that I was playing this game with Wolfey, that was at the bar. When I left I didn’t feel like going back to my place again so I went out with Wolfey again. That happened each night until Thursday. He didn’t answer his phone that night. I hadn’t seen Ben till that point. I walked into the house that afternoon after a long talk with the girls and one long day of school.
“Hey Ben,” he was sitting on the couch watching TV. His eyes were red. I dropped my purse and jacket and sat down next to him.
“Hey Izzy,” he wrapped his arms around me and whispered into my hair.
“What’s been happening with you?” I asked, curiosity burning in my throat.
“Me and Victoria got in a fight,” he looked down into my hands.
                “Oh I’m sorry,” no I wasn’t.
“It’s not your fault,” he looked deep in my eyes. He had been crying for a while now.
“Hey, you know she doesn’t even deserve you,” I gave him a huge smile. He got up and wandered over to the huge window at the bottom of the stairs.
“Kay, later,” I ran up the stairs and flopped on my bed. My room was filled with junk, the exact opposite of Ben’s. There was a huge canopy bed, California king, with black satin curtains and night blue silk sheets and a large black cotton comforter. The floors were the original dark brown creaking wood; it was beautiful but a nightmare for sneaking out quietly. The walls were the deep dark night blue of the sheets, there were curtains over the window on the wall with the bed against it. The walls were filled with signed photographs of stars, movie posters, and pieces of art, and then there were the posters that had no signature and the pictures of me and my friends and family having fun. Over on the wall space next to the door were four huge book shelves filled to the brim with books, gismos, gadgets, and other assorted trinkets. By my bed was a small bedside table with an alarm clock and bunches of framed pictures of friends and family. On the wall to the right of my door there was a chest of drawers and two more doors leading to a huge bathroom and a huge walk in closet. I felt sick the only thing that kept me alive was that tomorrow New Moon would be open to the public. Of course Alice had taken advantage of her contacts but unfortunately when I got around to looking for premier night tickets for Morgan, Sadie, and I they were all gone. Now we were stuck going to the public release. So tomorrow we were all going to the midnight showing. I wanted him so bad though, Ben, just New Moon alone couldn’t keep him off my mind. Maybe I’d ask him to come with me. Well I’d never know if I didn’t try. I ran down stairs where I found Ben was still sulking on the couch.
“Hey I know what might cheer you up,” I plopped down next to him and wrapped my arms around him.
                “Hmm?”
“Come see New Moon with me!” I whispered in his ear.
“Oh…,” he sighed as if awoken from a dream then looked at me, “well sure, it’s tomorrow right?”
“Yep,” I smiled and he smiled back, “So where’d she go?” his smile vanished instantly.
“Well… she went… home I think,” he looked really confused.
“Oh?” I wonder would that be the fight to end all fights.
“Yeah I… think… I know we’re taking a break,” he put his head back in his hands. Yes! This was it the beginning of the end. Now all that was left was a smooth role to the bottom, if Ben cooperated. I held him tight.
“It’s ok, she’ll come back don’t you worry,” I comforted.
“I’m not sure if I want her back,” he whispered and I could barely believe it.
“Oh,” was all I could spit out. We sat there for a long time. It was another one of those unbearably good nights. He slipped his head onto my lap and I sat there watching the night sky wondering if he’d ever figure out that I was the only girl for him. Eventually I had to go to bed because of school in the morning; I left him on the couch wrapped up in a throw. I went up to my bedroom and dreamed of the day he’d finally come to his senses.

For a girl who says she doesn't want him, she sure as heck keeps him around. Partially not her fault but if she really wanted him out of her life she'd try harder. Ben, i have a few things to say but will not comment on him..
