An Interesting Dilemma
A Story by Rose
Being happy, or being human, which is better?
How do I achieve complete happiness? A question most people want the answer to. Well, I have an answer for you. You can’t. Whether you agree or disagree, just hear me out. If you’re constantly striving for happiness you’re just reminding yourself that you’re not happy right now, making you more and more miserable. Having eternal happiness is like standing in the corner of a circular room, it’s impossible. In order to feel happy you’d have to know what contradicting feeling such as anger, fear, and sadness are like. If someone is constantly “happy” doesn’t that take away from the actual enjoyment factor of it, after a little while it just becomes normal, and never changing. If you are happy constantly than your emotional strength stays the same, with no opportunities to grow and evolve. Though, with the ups and downs of life you can experience things that can make happiness ten times better, even if those things are negative. Being happy is like a task or job, if you’re always doing the same thing you can get burnt out on it. In my opinion, you should focus less on trying to be happy, and more on trying to be human. Focusing more on being human allows your mind to grow, and it allows you to experience life to the fullest, just like everyone should. When you accept that you can’t be happy all the time, but also know to not dwell on the negative, then you can be happiest. There’s a certain balance between the positive and negative that needs to exist in order for the world to not go up in flames. Too much of either could be bad, even it doesn’t seem so. After all, one can’t exist without the other.
