mid-february five-o’clock sunsetA Poem by florencefebruary 26, 2020and in the darkness i am
glowing gently pink and blurred i am flushed and basking in a
golden light. the sun has been set
for hours; here i am rising in
its stead - i am in ecstasy across the horizon, or in your room in nothing else, and i show you the terrifying ways in which i have bloomed the hidden and sudden
overflowering; i am in the feverish throes
of some sort of saccharine
self-destruction. the deified and blushing sky
is calling to me, and then it is
you, and i am dreaming of
grapefruit in my mouth i am taking pomegranate seeds from the earth in the
dead of winter. © 2020 florence |
