You were the first to show me love You were the firs to hold my hands You were the first to always be there During my midnight crying demands You were the first to see me walk You've brought me happiness and pain You gave me joy laughter and wisdom I'd give anything to have it again You were there every step of the way Although most of the time I'd feel lost But you became my lighthouse You gave me warmth in times of frost You'd pick me up when I'd fall Made sure I'd say my prayers at night You'd always had my back When it felt like I've failed life But now that we're all grown So many thing about us has changed I may be rougher around the edges But my love for my mom and dad is still the same
