Bittersweet Happiness

Bittersweet Happiness

A Poem by Rosauro Brillantes
"

"Lately, I've been, I've been thinking I want you to be happier. I want you to be happier"

"
I know I have to let you go
I know it's the right thing
If this is what will bring you joy
Then, for you, I'll take the sting

I don't want to let you go
This hurts a goddamn ton
We had built a home together
But this home was built for one

So now I have to watch you leave
Watch you walk right out the door
I hope you find your happiness
And maybe back to me once more

We were to wed one autumn day
You were to be my wife
Destined to be many things
Just not have you in my life

I hope you reach your goals
And I hope you reach them soon
I want to see you smile more
From the dark side of this moon

So despite the fact I long for you
I know I shouldn't hope
For maybe you'll meet another man
It's a thought that makes me choke

But who am I to say
How you'll live your life so free
Gladly give you happiness
And I'll take all misery

This bittersweet emotion
Is a curse without a doubt
Watch you spread your wings and fly
But it's you I can't live without

Author's Note

Rosauro Brillantes
I haven't written many poems lately, so I thought I'd give writing another try.
I am in the process of losing the one I thought I'd share my life with, and the feeling is unbearable. I had forgotten how therapeutic writing can sometimes be.
