SpringA Poem by Rosalynd"Spring" describes spring as a goddess, bringing back the beauty to the frosty, wintry lands.Spring The loveliest goddess With flowing brown hair Merry sky blue eyes The brightest flower crown Set upon her head. Slender graceful body Dressed in the finest purest garments. Her laughter was like tinkling bells With rosy glowing cheeks. And all about her Was a softly glowing golden light. She dances across the wintry grounds, Skipping, spinning, twirling, Throwing back her silky hair, Laughing like a little child At the same time singing. Her voice was of an angel, but mixed with something more; A little honey from heaven’s bees, A little piece of rainbow; Wisps of cloud here and there, Some golden rays of sunlight, Mixed with drops of blue sky And water from the sweetest lake. Everywhere her bare feet touched The winter snow gave away; And in its place was lush green grass Where the animals came out to play. There were brown and white rabbits, And orange beaked canaries; Multi-colored butterflies And buzzing honeybees; Little prickly hedgehogs, And ducks and swans and geese. The trees shook off their wintry coats, Cried joyfully, and then, They stretched and jumped And green and yellow leaves Along with bright red berries Sprouted on their hands. The frozen river melted, And sang its song again. Yet Spring danced on and on, Bringing back the colors, Now somersaulting, Now cartwheeling, Now rolling in the grass, Bringing the message to everyone That winter has passed. And when she finally finished her task, The animals all crowded round her, Licking her face, Fluttering around, Jumping into her her arms. She kissed and hugged every one of them, And with a wave of her hand, She rose into the heavens, Waiting for spring again. © 2010 RosalyndReviews
