Squander

Squander

A Poem by poetry-kiddo alienbaba
"

To willingly and knowingly lose ...almost throw away everything that life could ever give you

"
When in doubt I shout aloud to the cloud of possessions I have squandered
Trying to reclaim without laying claim to a wasted toasted hasted youth
There are times when I like to mime to the echo of a fading Chinese rhyme
Tying myself in countless loops of...manchow-soup manchow-soup manchow-soup

Falling back on a cloud of hope in a quary abandoned by father-time
Selling stuff that the world had made but I never could  really call it mine
Breathing fumes that are meant to kill and will only steal the pulse of my alien- heart
Echoing in the distant realm beyond parted veils where men depart depart depart

Carry on oh my feet no more will understand the pain they feel
In the distance mirages in desert sand there's  an oasis
Reaching out to the water of life as we comprehend it's just the threshold of strife
He was always meant to be another woman's man; she...another man's wife ife fe

Echoing in the distant realm beyond parted veils where men depart depart depart. I love that line. I read this poem several times because I enjoy the flow. Why alien heart, though? This part felt like a crack in the road where I was forced to stop before climbing back on.

There is such a sad feel to this poem. The end, especially, I have come to the same conclusion more than once in my life. It can be as freeing as much as it is sad.

Reaching out to the water of life as we comprehend it's just the threshold of strife. I think often times we reach out to what looks like life, but is in fact just another unsolved pattern that keeps resurfacing in life. This usually involves a lot of strife. I believe, in time and with experience, that we learn to differentiate between bodies of water selling themselves as life and water that actually does feed life.

thank you Dawn its a funny thing i read it again and i liked it too
I like how you change the font of the repeated words...like a chant almost or an echo of your thoughts as you go through them. Really cool style here.

Why do we always want what we can not have...we set ourselves up for failure. It seems the one who got away is the one who inspires poetry for so many. Powerful poetry. Lydi**

Thanku Lydia you saw it in its essence wish u happiness
Well I've not seen you in forever - but you've lost none of your quirkiness. Love the little echoey bits in this piece, and the more serious message - the futility of chasing after that which cannot be. Well penned

and a very astute observation, but also reminds us that we can't take it with us...sooner or later we leave all the possessions behind...and then what is left is just us...heart and soul...

nice write...
