Night on the road

Night on the road

A Poem by ron

Night on the road

And on the dashboard lite,

we sang the tunes to what played on the dashboard light.

So in the full moon lights we sang,

we sang what other could only hope for.

We cried for the other to find us,

her body next to mine.

Softly sang as she held her body next to mine,

and it was in that moment that I understood what love could be.

Freedom she said was just another word nothing left to lose,

nothing if it ant free.

Now she takes me down to the song,

from the coal mines to the beaches of the coast.

She took me in her song,

and left me warm in her heart.

We shared life,

we shared a kiss,

and she took me to the ends of the earth.

Now my heart waits for her,

waits for a love that could only last,

the few moments of that time.

And now I hear her words in a song,

a song meant for another.

In my dreams the song was sung to me.

How I took her words to heart,

I believed in what she said.

I was a huge fan of Joplin, and was really saddened to hear the news when she died. I was hearing some of the vocals from the Piece of My Heart as I read this.

I never really got into Joplin before but now I am really loving her songs.

Janis had a lot going on. So much emotion conveyed through her music. To much for her to handle it seems. Everything she did was an escape. Her music escaped into us. RIP Janis

Thank you. My first poem to a Janis Joplin song.
I tell you what friend the last 2 pieces I've read from you have been
deep and really well written! Are you in the zone? I've had similar
situations like what you write here in my youth, thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
