And in this night we felt loveA Poem by ronAnd
in this night we felt love
On
a moonlit night I felt you next to me, caressed
by your sighs and tender touch.
What
words could have been spoken, on
the sand and wind that carried us past who we were at that moment?
On
that night I was complete by your love of me.
Into
the rooms we played, not
knowing what each room held for us.
But
our love was pure and in poets words we heard, “How
do I count the ways to your heart?”
Was
is it that moment or our needing for something more, that
made the night full of love?
We
may never know.
All
I know is that you took me closer to love than I have ever been, on
that night on the sand with the fire burning softly off in the distance.
And
in those few fleeting moments, I
found a love so pure and true, that
I cry for your scent, your
whispers, your
lips pressed to mine, each
and every night of my life. Now
your life and mine are distant, distant
by time.
You
have your life and I have mine, but
we will always have those few, young
unrequited moments, we
shared with each other.
I
do not know if you will ever remember me, or
even think of that moment, but
I for one will remember each breath you took, each
sigh you pressed against my lips, each
beat of your heart.
And
for me that is only a shadow of what I need, but
I digress, after
all it was only a few moments in our young life.
How
could I ever hope that you would remember?
