Our time in the Military

Our time in the Military

Our time in the Military

This song is sung from a family’s point of view,

my words are from a soldier who was never there.

A first step taken and missed.

first words spoken and never heard.

Pictures in the house,

pictures in a fighting position,

pictures of Christmas,

pictures of things missed.

Dad…

You don’t know me,

I don’t know you,

but could we be close if this war would let us…

Alone in my heart,

your heart,

could you love me when I come home,

or will I be the one that was never there,

when you took your first step,

and walked across the stage for you diploma?

Could you understand I did this for you,

will I understand what you went through?

Two lives intertwined as one,

two hearts needing more.

One soul bleeding for the other.

The fallen are not always on the battlefield.
