Let’s jump eight to the bar

Let’s jump eight to the bar

A Poem by ron

Let’s jump eight to the bar

Jump, jump you’re in the Army now,

and blow the bugle that uncle Sam drafted you for,

he’s blowing for Uncle Sam,

and the boys in Company B.

Wake the boys before the sun comes up,

and lull them to sleep before the sun goes down.

In the morning with sleepies in their eyes,

and the country on their backs.

They have to play and train,

drafted into the barracks and told to carry that pack and rifle.

Looking at his girls picture he knows he has to,

play that bugle in morning’s revelry,

and the nights retreat.

Let the company jump eight to the bar.

He puts the boys to bed with an eight to the bar lullaby,

and wakes them up with a funky beat.

To the training they go with a beat,

and to tojo they have a beat.

The music has changed,

but the beat stays the same.

The men and women of the Army
who fight for the freedom of others
are nothing short of modern day heroes.
An insightful little piece about that side of life.
