Take my heartA Poem by ronTake
my heart
If
I took that leap and showed you what the shadows hid from life, would
you have noticed me, would
you have seen more than I was, could
you have felt my heart beat?
I
watched you cry from each heartbreak, but
all I did was reach out from the shadows, hidden
by my own shroud that never let you see me, behind
another empty face in the crowd.
I
was the silent blanket you never knew you had.
I
was the one who wanted to comfort you, but
my own fear of exposure kept me in the dark, kept
me in the shadows, kept
me hidden from you.
The
words, “too late” seems
too late and never enough.
If
you ever need a faceless blanket to comfort you, to
hold your heart safe, look
in the crowd of empty faces, for
the one with tears in his eyes, and
know they look back, loving
you.
So
I walk in the shadows of empty faces in the crowd, and
watch after your heart.
The
back streets and allies of your heart, is
where I live.
It
is there that I feel safe, safe
from letting you down.
