Some of the greats in the 60’s/70’sA Poem by ronSome
of the greats in the 60’s/70’s
So
you think your music is great… well
let me give you a word or two of the greats.
Jim
Croce “Leroy Brown”. “Time in a bottle”, John
Denver “Rocky Mountain High”. “Take me home”, Mamas
and the papas “California dreamin”. “Where have all the flowers gone?”. Beach
boys “In my room” (I can totally relate). “Kokoma”, Jan
and Dean “Dead mas curve”. “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”, Peter
Paul and Mary “Puff the Magic Dragon”. “500 Miles”, Bobby
Goldsboro “And I love you”. “Honey”. The
Everly brothers “Cathy's clown”. “When will I be Loved”. The Ventures "Walk Don't Run". “Wipe out”. Dr. John “Ske Dat
De Dat”. “Right Place Wrong Time”. “Such
a night”. Louis Armstrong “What a wonderful world”. “Dream A Little
Dream Of Me”. Otis Redding “Sitting on the dock of the bay”. “Try A
Little Tenderness”.
This is just a small list of what it was like in the 60’s
and 70’s music. Jazz, Blues, surfer, R and B, Motown… Modern-day music could not be what it is today without
these and other musicians. So listen to what was to see what could be. © 2014 ron |
