The kiss

The kiss

A Poem by ron

The kiss

How nervous was he on that night,

the moment was perfect and the moon lent them her beauty,

and the stars shined perfectly.

He took to her in military parade fashion,

back straight chest held out proudly (OK so it was a little wanting).

lips dry but moistened with the tip of his tongue.

Yellow rose of Texas,

sang in his ear.

He pulling her to him softly and with great hesitation,

trembling from his heart to his knees,

this was his moment to hold her…yet his feet fumbled,

his resolve stood strong and determined.

And the Cavalry was strong in his soul.

His lips brushed against hers,

and pressed tight.

The stars sang their song,

the moon shown bright,

fireworks danced in their eyes.

Their heart beat strong,

he lost his strength.

Faultier was not something he could allow,

for his pride would not allow it.

Her lips tasted full and sweet,

her sighs filled his moans with hopes of more.

But alas my dear love,

to you it was just a kiss.

To him it was the yellow rose of Texas.

Now he rides out of the fort,

head held high,

chest swelling with pride,

horse prancing high,

for it knows love is in the air.

He Proclaims he will be back to make her his; was all he said,

it was the last she heard from him.

As the troopers came back,

only one was missing.

Only one,

her true love.

She sits each night at the forts gate,

and waits for her true love.

Some say she has lost her heart,

but each sunset brings her true love to her.

She drapes his yellow scarf around her shoulders,

and whispers…

“I loved you before I knew you”

The trooper has never been seen since,

but on a warm spring time night with a hint of honeysuckle,

you might glimpse a glance of them,

the yellow roses of Texas.

In love all things are possible,

if only you would hear the…

Yellow Rose of Texas.

And on marched the troopers,

and salute the maiden that has,

never lost her love.

And they smell the scent of,

honeysuckle in the midnight's blossom.
