The unknown title

The dead I have walked with,

and heard their voices aged and full of life.

The living I have not seen,

nor could they be measured by time.

How young the brave look,

before the bullets and missile envelope,

a sliver of their life that will take,

an eternity to live,

and will never feel the comfort of death.

Note:
1st stanza…to the soldiers I served with and knew who never made it back alive.
2nd stanza…to the soldiers I never had the honor of meeting after I left the service.
3rd stanza…to the soldiers who made it back alive, but who have to live with it for
the rest of their lives.

Thank you Ron, well written.
We had the privilege of meeting many of my son's comrades in arms when visiting him, and at his wedding. Some of them lost their lives in Afghanistan, in what now seems a waste, as nothing was accomplished there, and our leaders are just handing it back to the Taliban.
