Voice of an Angel… not for meA Poem by ronVoice
of an Angel… not for me
I
cut my teeth in straight leg infantry (that
means I was not Airborne), brother’s
in arms we all are.
And
I lie in Gods embrace.
My
soul tortured, torn
in shreds.
And
in the distant light, I
can see the brightness of all who have fallen.
On
this road I walk alone, for
no hymn will be sung to save my soul.
I
ask myself why I must travel this road alone. I
travel this road so others do not have to.
Others
may believe in nothing more than faith, I
have none, for all that is good has left me.
And
yet I hear the voice of an Angel, an
Angel that sings not for me, but
for those who still have faith.
I
make this promise to you… you
shall not walk alone in your trials and tribulations.
I
will be there to pick you up when you fall, and
be your shield when all else has failed.
Listen
for the song of Angels, for
they will guide you when I cannot.
Their
voice is, your
saving grace.
Their
voice is the sound of Angels, who
sings Amazing Grace, for
here is where our paths must part.
Your
path is ahead of you, while
mine lies behind us.
I
must go back to help the ones who are lost.
