High School Cheerleaders and JocksA Poem by ronHigh
School Cheerleaders and Jocks
You
like someone, who’s
not me.
Are
you in love? Could
he love you more than I do? Does
he understand…you’re so special?
I
watch you walk from class to class, I
sit in the shadows.
Lunch
time is the highlight of my day, that’s
when you say… “Hi
how is your day.”
Just
as I am about to tell you I have been thinking of you all day, he
slides next to you, and
I hide in the shadows once again.
He’s
the high school jock on the football team, he
wears the jersey he earned, and
you wear the cheerleader’s team captain outfit.
I’m
just a band manager, nothing
special, not
even the band considers me a part of the band, so
why should you be seen talking to me.
When
he breaks your heart you come to me to vent and cry on my shoulder, then
another boy catches your eye, and
I slip into the shadows once again.
I
was the one you called when you had a bad night, after
he dumped you.
You
asked me a couple of times… “How
come you don’t have a girlfriend? You
should find someone because you’re a good guy.”
How
could you have known I found someone. But
you don’t see it was you who I wanted all along?
You’re
the Cheerleader Captain… and
I am nothing more than the band manager. © 2014 ronAuthor's NoteReviews
