Hello my old friend

Hello my old friend

A Poem by ron

Hello my old friend

Hello…how have you been?

How is my old friend doing?

It’s been a while since we sat and talked,

or had coffee.

Has your life turned out how you planed,

or dreamed of?

No mine has not,

but if retrospect it has not been bad.

I have children, who looked up to me,

but they have their own life to build,

it seems as though they don’t need my words of wisdom.

But then we thought the same of our parents,

when we were young ourselves.

I hear a storm is coming to the bay,

it should be a good one,

if you like storms.

What about the ones in high school we once knew?

Are they happy, have you heard from them?

I served, and heard what’s his name went off to war.

No one has heard anything of him…

And what about What’s her name…

she signed up to…

And what about that one guy you were supposed to marry?

Do you two have a family?

Echoed in the light of day,

when we sat freely on the Holly Wood sign,

as the sun came up over the horizon.

Do you think the people on Sunset Blvd,

ever knew we sat looking at their travels,

early in the morning light?

It was good to hear from you,

we’ll have to do this again soon…

one day.

I like this one. A little snippet. This is exactly how it goes, and then there is nothing left to say.

Thank you KL. I used my experience when I was in high school and the song to write this one.
