To my Father Paul

To my Father Paul

A Poem by ron

To my Father Paul

Dear dad I know I was not perfect; I lied to you and Mom on occasion because I was ashamed of what I did. I was never the perfect son.

As I grew up you taught me with a firm and loving hand. You guided me when I most needed it and showed me what compassion was.

You showed me how to love,

to stand up and accept the punishment for when I was wrong,

but you also taught me how to stand my ground in what I believed was right,

and to protect the ones who could not.

You gave me more than I have given myself,

forgive me Dad for not learning that lesson.

But I am learning from the things you have taught me…

It will take a life time but I will always try.

Your loving son;

Ron.

Ha, I don't think we ever listen to our parents when we are young and even as we grow up. There are many times I really wished I had listened to my Dad but then again, I have made my mistakes and learnt from them. Your Dad sounds very special and I know he'd be very proud of you.

A lovely tribute to your father.

Thank you Sye...at least you know that at an early age xoxo
Ron, we often feel we will never be able to measure up to the lessons our dear father's attempted to teach us, but I have come to accept that I have learned far more than I realized. You pour our your heart and admit you are still learning, but your resolve to continue trying is admirable! He would be proud of who you are........I am sure of that!!

The poem told the truth. We learn what a man knew after we walked in their footsteps. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poem for your father. You honored your father with the words.

Thank you Coyote. Sometimes a father can teach us in ways we don't understand.
