Having something to eatA Poem by ronHaving something to eat
It’s hard to find something to eat, a crumb or a nibble, who knew that would be a feast.
Some salt and pepper, now that would taste great.
I bottle of ketchup, some mustard on the side.
I don’t have pictures of food, that would just make my mouth water.
I close my eyes and smell the neighbors cooking, but sooner or later I have to open them and look at the table.
The best thing about nothing in the cupboard, is that it’s easy to clean.
No cans of food or bags of rice, to collect dust, it makes cleaning a snap.
Writing poetry comes easier like this, it brings a new meaning to “hunger in my words”. © 2014 ronReviews
