Would you say hello?

Would you say hello?

A Poem by ron

Would you say hello?

Standing the the farthest corner of the room.

I see them standing and talking.

They flirt with the jocks,

and accept the cheerleaders into their circle.

I am not jock material,

nor would a cheerleader even ask me for the time of day.

Why would they,

I’m not perfect like them.

I know I won’t be anyone,

when I grow up.

I will be the same old me,

never amounting to much.

But I am happy,

you see they have allowed me to stay.

As long as I stay in my corner,

and don’t say a single word,

They said they don’t hate me,

I just don’t fit in.

They are really doing me a favor,

that's what they told me.

I put on a smile so they know I appreciate what they have done for me,

but inside I am lonely.

All I ever wanted was to hear,

hello.

I was lucky. I was a math wiz. All the pretty girls came to me for tutoring. I do understand the poem. Never got a date, but I knew. Better to keep learning and find people who wanted the same things. I like the story in the poem and the want for a hello as a kid. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Lol.........
I can relate well to this, I changed schools often as my father was transferred on a regular basis from one town to another. I would finally make some progress, make some friends, fit in a little, and then have to start all over again in some new town. This spoke to a lot of those emotions I felt back then.
Good write, Ron.

High school is harsh! This part 'But I am happy, you see they have allowed me to stay.' reminds me of situations where some people give us crumbs of kindness and we are happy to accept those tiny crumbs.

Thank you Anand. I wanted to hear those words to.
I don't think I know anyone who actually liked high school.

Lol. Mine had its moments.
Definitely felt like this several times in my life. You were probably a much better person than them. This is a really good piece.

Thank you. You felt like this several times? I find that hard to believe. ;)
I think perhaps they are the ones that missed out in knowing a really wonderful person Red :)

Yes interesting.....;)
Well for starts you were probably too good for them anyway and they were intimidated by you and your shining personality and secondly, you don't need to be a jock or whatever to fit in. be yourself, thats alll anyone asks for. :) I loved this
