Lost in a LetterA Poem by ronLost in a Letter
Words of love and passion spilled out on the paper, tears stained the words written with trembling hands.
It only took a lifetime to write, and now it was complete.
At the tender age of eighteen he presented his letter to her, with all is pride and knowing that she was the one.
As she took the letter and read it before his eyes, she smiled a beautiful smile.
Tightly he held the ring he had in his pocket, the smile on her face confirmed what was in his heart.
She kissed him on the check and finally spoke, “This is a sweet letter from a sweet friend”.
The ring seemed to disappeared from his grasp, his voice was less sure then his heart.
“Thank you” was all he could manage as he smiled and walked away. “I will call you later if I can” she called after him.
The call never came, it was just as well that he never heard her words. His heart died behind the walls that were built that day. © 2014 ronAuthor's Note
