Shadowed feelings

 

 

I hide from others what I feel in my heart,

I build walls so others won’t see.

I have hidden my feelings from thee.

 

Whom do I protect when I can’t listen to what I feel is right?

This pain in my soul gets bigger each day.

It’s my refuge from these feelings inside.

 

I won’t ask you to wait until I can openly express how I feel.

All I ask is that you know what is in my heart.

To read your words and hear your soul will keep me more happy than you know.

 

For now I will wait in the shadows,

hoping that when the day comes, I am ready to speak,

you will listen with your heart and let me in.

 

I have nothing to offer until that time,

except these feelings I hide deep inside.

This almost made me think this is written in a teenager's diary, more like my diary. ;) You eloquently expressed the feeling, Ron.

Just few corrections, if you let me:

*"Who do I protect..." -> Whom do I protect..."
*"hoping that when the day comes that I am ready to speak," -> hoping that when the day comes, I am ready to speak,
*"except these feeling I hide deep inside." -> except these feelings I hide deep inside.

Also, the word "thee" seems off in this kind of poem that holds no allusion to the traditional or Shakespearean type of writing. You might want to consider substituting it with another word. But that's just me.

Thank you Blue. As for the word "thee" I used in this one, sometimes I get in a Shakespearean mood. I'm not that good so I kind of use it as accent, maybe its not working I don't know.

Thank you. I don't know why, Shakespeare is one of the classics. I am experimenting with the way the way Sherlock Holmes was written for a new story I'm writing (well trying to anyways).

I wish to know Sherlock Holmes! I felt utterly incomplete without having known a bit of information about him. But as for Shakespeare, I'm collecting his works. I've already got more than a dozen. ;)
